Helping pornography addicts – my journey begins.

I am Dr. Arden Compton. One of the things I have really come to love is helping people with pornography and related addictions.  The road that led me to this was a little unconventional.  I am not a therapist or a counselor, and growing up it never even crossed my mind that this is what I would do someday.  Six years ago I made huge course correction in my life, I quit my previous profession, took some training, and started a business helping people with health problems using different alternative health methods.  I got a degree as a Doctor of Naturopathy.  In this new field, I was introduced to a method call Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).  I learned that it was very helpful for a wide range of concerns, one of them being addictions.  EFT is way outside the box of conventional thinking.  It utilizes the acupuncture system, but there are no needles involved.  It is a process where a person lightly taps on acupuncture points with their own finger tips while focusing on a concern, and the concern grows less while doing this.  It turns out that addicts who use this process while focusing on a craving, have amazing results.  As I began helping a  few people with addictions, I was so astounded at the results, and I really enjoyed the process of coaching these people through the process, I decided to emphasize this in the advertising for my business.  As I considered the different addictions out there, it came to my attention that one of the addictions with a high rate of relapse was pornography addiction.  I also considered the spiritual ramifications of this problem, its effect on families and our society at large, and I realized this is one of the most harmful, if not the most harmful, of addictions.  I began searching for people with pornography addictions that I could help.  Gratefully over  the I have been able to help many, and I am very pleased that the process I use has such powerful results.  Most men in a month or two are completely free of all desire for pornography!  It’s not that they are just refraining from looking at it, they don’t want to look at it any more.  This is powerful.  It isn’t just EFT. I am a Christian, and while coaching the client through EFT, I continually bring in principles from the atonement of Jesus Christ.  I believe this to be an essential aspect of the process.  All true healing comes through Christ, whether a person knows it or not.  There is no complete and genuine change without Christ’s help.  I am not a minister, but this has to be a part of the process.  Because of Christ there is hope.  I believe EFT is tool that God has blessed us with, and He works through us in the process.  I am very grateful He can work through me to help those chained to pornography and sex addictions to be free!
