Pornography Addiction – Is soft porn OK?

The content of this post assumes you have some knowledge of EFT.   I encourage you to visit the video tabs and other information at the top of the blog about how EFT works.  That way the blog posts much more helpful for you.

Very often viewers of  pornography will develop beliefs that lead them back to pornography, and sabotage efforts to refrain from viewing pornography.  Recently I visited with a gentleman where we discovered the following sabotaging beliefs:

The only way to be free of  the persistent, nagging urge to view pornography is to view pornography.

Once I start, I just can’t stop.

I can satisfy that urge to look by looking a just a little, then I’ll stop.

It will be OK to look at soft porn, as long as I don’t go to the real hard core stuff.

Each of these beliefs weakens the resolve to not look at porn, and makes what is a wrong choice an acceptable option.  These beliefs make it OK to start small, but once an addict starts small, they alway go on to more.  These beliefs contribute to the addict remaining stuck.

With EFT, once these beliefs have been indentified, correctly coached through EFT these beliefs are quickly abandoned, replaced with the obvious truth that it is not OK to look at any time, and there are many ways a person can be free of the pull of pornography without giving in to it.    A person may feel that pull is gone while looking, but it very quickly returns.  A person can engage in any of number of wholesome activities to replace pornography and minimize that pull.  Of course, to really be free of it one needs to identify what they are using it as a solution to.  Some use it as a solution to boredom, or rejection, or stress, the list goes on and on.  Once this is identified, this can also be tapped out with EFT.  Always pay attention to the rationalizing, sabotaging excuses used that makes it OK to start small, and tap them out!

P.S. – all of this can be applied to a masturbation as well.
