Is porn the solution to your problems?

One of the things that leads a person back to pornography (or other addictions) is the illusion that it is a solution to a problem. For instance, a person may feel that pornography helps them escape stress, so when they are stressed they turn to pornography to relieve the stress. This becomes their solution to stress, so they become conditioned to turn to porn whenever stress kicks in. There are many other things that porn seems to be the solution to: feeling unloved, rejected, overwhelmed, inadequate, unwanted, unattractive, anxiety, etc.  Just about any negative emotion can be solved by looking at pornography… at least that is the way it seems. Looking at porn or turning to other addictions seems to help, but soon after the rush has worn off, the negative emotion returns again. None problems in your life were resolved while looking at porn, in fact things might have got worse. If you thought porn helped you when you felt lonely, the truth is it made you more alone than ever. Everything you thought it was helping with probably got worse. That is how Satan works; he offers a solution that actually makes the problem worse!

So, what is it for you? In what way are you using pornography as a solution to a problem in your life? As you identify this, and turn to Christ instead of porn with your problems, it help you to change this pattern in your life.
